Two weeks ago I ordered The Happiness Project from Amazon. I have only read 100 pages of the self-discovery novel and I’m so inspired I’m starting my very own happiness project. I love it when this happens.
For the past few weeks my work out routine has all but stopped completely. Since I started my job in March it’s been difficult to find the time to work out like I did in college. I miss the days when my schedule afforded me early afternoon workouts. I used to run between 3 and 6 miles every day. Even the days I didn’t want to, I never regretted a single step by the end.
I need to get back to that. That made me happy.
The author and subject of The Happiness Project, Gretchen Rubin, began her project at the beginning of the year by organizing her home. I’m beginning mine by improving my personal fitness and finding some inner balance. Obviously it isn’t January but there’s no better time than the present to begin working towards a goal.
“What gets measured gets improved.” Rubin makes a point to monitor how she’s adhering to her plan and I’m planning on doing the same.
August—Find Personal Balance and Improve Personal Fitness
- Exercise regularly; become a morning workout person during the weekdays
- Drink more water
- Take vitamins
- Get more rest
- Eat supportively (by this I mean fuel myself with nutritious whole foods)
- Train diligently for half marathon-- November 24 my friend and I are running the Outback Distance Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., a half marathon on Thanksgiving Day. I’ve run it once before and I’d like another 13.1 sticker on the back of my car.
I’ll have to take it day by day, but I know this will be worth it. On the horizon for September? Work!
