Currently sitting at my desk during my lunch hour devouring a chicken burrito from The Burrito Gallery wondering how I could make this better (would not be too difficult) and healthier. Why healthier? I am participating in San Marco Training Studio, Inc.'s (SMTS) 30 Day Fitness Challenge. Yet I am eating a burrito.
My boss, Jason, asked me if I would be up for the challenge of promoting SMTS' Fitness Challenge as well as be a participant. I've gained some weight (not saying how much) since my 65 lb weight loss victory from my junior year of college. I thought this challenge would be a great way to jump start and kick my arse into gear to lose the 55 lbs I'd like to by Thanksgiving. So I signed up. I have been assessed and as of yesterday I have met the other four contestants. I am the youngest participant. I am even younger than my trainer.
The prize for winning this challenge, aside from our new bodacious bodies, is a $50 gift certificate to Pottery Barn and a one hour facial at a spa in Jacksonville Beach!
The Fitness Challenge requires that I eat 5-6 healthy, small meals a day. Every 2.5-3 hours I am munching on something. I must train with CJ three times per week and perform cardio activities four times a week minimum. In all honesty the exercising is not going to be my weak point. I love to exercise. I love to run. I just have not been doing it as often as I was or should. Eating is going to be where I will need to make the most changes. I normally wait to eat until I am hungry. By the time my stomach tells my brain to tell me I am running on empty I still have to run somewhere to find food. I then purchase the worst thing on the menu or I eat the entire meal.
So back to my burrito. Next week I am bringing my own lunch. Paying $8.18 for a mediocre attempt at Mexican street food has satiated my hunger but not my pleased my palate. There was enough sriracha on every bite to make me sweat as much as I did walking outside in this weather to procure it. I have only eaten half. As I said, I'm in it to win it. There's a facial at stake!
